In the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine and Hungary we launched together with our partners the Lime app. This app provides information about pH (KCl), organic matter, clay percentage and soil temperature. Based on those parameters it calculates an advice for lime (CaO).
The functionality of the app works the same as all our other scanner applications. Uniquely about this app is the provided advice in the report and filling in several questions that are required (see below picture) in order to optimize the the best fitted lime (CaO) advise.
Additional question when selecting crop rotation:
When the crop system ‘arable/maize’ is selected (see picture 2) an additional question about your rotation system will be requested.
The only rotation crops influencing the lime calculation at the moment are Sugerbeet, Non-startch potatoes and Starch potatos. The rotation are indicated in years translated to percentages (%). For example if you grow once in the 4 years potatoes and during the other 3 years mais, then you fill in 25% for non-starch potatoes. Or for example if you switch between sugerbeet to another crop than 50% for sugerbeet should be filled. When you don't switch between any of the 3 crops then you should fill 0 for all the options.
Advice explanation
When you select within the app in the dropdown menu of reports the option 'Neutralizing lime' the measured parameters and advice will be shown.
The measured parameters are shown in 5 classes. The ranges are indicated when you tab on the information (i) sign.
The measured parameters are:
pH (KCl)
Organic matter
Clay = measured clay percentage of the soil
The ranges of the parameters are determined by the measured soil type, measured organic matter, measured clay level and choice in crop.
The measured lime advice is shown as “Neutralizing value” in kg lime(CaO) per hectare. When another liming is used you are in need for a different quantity of lime. At the moment only 1 type of liming is calculated in the app if you would like to have a different type a recalculation of the advice is needed.
