The FTP upload problem occurs occasionally on the LiaB scanning laptop and XRF computer screen. The warning message shows in the uploader dialog box as shown below:
What causes this error?
This error is usually related to one of the following:
-
Unstable Internet Connection
The uploader cannot connect to the server to send the scan files when the internet connection is unstable. The warning message "FTP upload problem" pops up when the internet connection is temporarily a little slow, weak or unstable with frequent interruptions. Sometimes it could be the server is busy.
-
Missing Barcode in a Scan File
The error can also occur if a sample is analyzed without scanning a barcode. This happens when you accidentally forget to scan the barcode before analyzing the soil on the alpha or XRF. In this case, the system saves the file under a date instead of a sample code. The uploader cannot recognize this file, which results in the warning message.
Effects of the error
When the error occurs, scan files for analyzed samples are not uploaded, but instead they retained outside the sent folder. As a result, no reports are generated for analyzed samples.
Note: always check the sent folder to confirm if there are any files outside sent folder or files with the wrong sample code.
How to correct the error
Begin by checking internet connection and its signal strength. If the signal is low, try changing the connection or wait a little for the connection to stabilize. With restoration of good internet connection, the files are automatically uploaded without any other intervention. Confirm if the files are uploaded by checking the sent folder again, if uploaded just click 'clear details' on the uploader dialog box and continue working.
