There is a thin foil in the XRF called spectromembrane where you place your sample upon. This foil keeps the dust out from the sensor and still allows the scanning to take place without interference. The quality of the spectromembrane reduces over time and by use.
! If the quality of the foil is reduced, then the quality of the analysis results are reduced as well.
* Check the quality of the foil every two weeks. Use a small flashlight to inspect the foil for small cracks and dust specks. Replace the foil if you notice cracks or specks that can't be removed by blowing some air at them.
* Replace the spectromembrane every four weeks. The movie below shows how to do so.
* If the spectromembrane is damaged during any other moment then replace the spectromembrane immediately.
