In order to ship the Xrf for repair or general transport in case of mobile Liab (Lab in a Box) please follow listed steps below:
The Epsilon XRF uses X-ray fluorescence has several security measure to avoid the machine to get damaged during transport.
1. ALWAYS transport & ship the Xrf in it is original transport/flight case. It is of outmost importance to handle the Xrf with care during transport and keep it safe in its original transport box. The Xrf is protected by several sensors that react sensitive to movement and sudden ruptions.
If the Xrf is transported or shipped without the transport box, it is likely that the lid-lock mechanism will turn on. This mechanism is a protective measure to make sure that no X-rays radiate from the tube in case of damage to the machine. If the lid-lock is activated it is no longer possible to open the lid and the circuit to the X-ray tube will be blocked, which does not allow for any further analyse of samples. Only a Panalytical Service Engineer will be able to unlock the mechanism once activated. Furthermore, the transport box is securing all technical parts such as cables etc. within the machine, which otherwise can losen over time if not transported correctly.
2. Turn off the X-ray tube and remove the key. Place the key in a vertical position to turn off the X-ray tube of the Xrf befor any type of transport. Place the key in a secure place within the transport box, it is important the tube-key stays with Xrf at all times.
If the key is left in the lock it is not assured that the tube will stay closed during transport.
3. Remove all cables from the X-ray machine. Before any type of transport please remove all cables from the Xrf machine and place them carefully in the transport box of the Xrf.
