After drying, soil samples must be sieved to remove stones, roots, and other large particles. This ensures a uniform sample for accurate analysis. A 2 mm sieve is recommended for this process.
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Prepare the Sample
- Remove the barcode from the sample container and pour the dried soil into the hand sieve.
2. Sieve the Soil
- Gently move the soil through the sieve, use the pestle to break down remaining clumps.
- Ensure the entire sample passes through the sieve.
3. Remove Debris
- Discard of stones, roots and other foreign materials.
4. Clean Equipment

Clean the sieve and pestle after use. Throw all foreign materials to the bin.
