There are several options you can try to solve the calibration cap error. However, keep in mind that the calibration cap is sensitive to dirt and friction. Below are some of the quick checks you can do before reaching out to support.
- Change the position of the calibration cap. The Scanner can be placed on 3 positions on the yellow side of the cap. Try all three and see if one position resolves the problem.
- Check if the glass of the scanner is clean and not damaged.
- Check if the white side of the cap is clean.
- Check if the yellow side of the cap is clean.
- Check if the yellow side of the cap is undamaged. The yellow side of the cap cannot be cleaned if this is tried the fibers might damage. Check if the fibers are not loose.
- Check with the user if they used cleaning products on the calibration cap. cleaning products might be left behind on the cap and influence the spectra. Hence, leading to an error message.
- If the scanner and calibration cap look both fine check the application. Reset the scanner and Re-install the app on the phone might sometimes also resolve problems.
Possible reasons for a failed calibration
The cap is dirty, or the yellow side of the cap is damaged
The white side of the calibration cap should be free of dirt or dust. To clean it, wet a clean cloth with clean water, squeeze the water out and wipe the cap clean.
To clean the yellow side, wipe with a clean wet cloth towards the grain (that the yellow fibers do not come undone)
Please note that the yellow side should in essence remain clean and never get dirty as cleaning it can result to damaging the cap.
When the base of the scanner including the knobs are dirty.
To clean the base of the scanner, use a clean cloth and water. Wipe the base of the scanner clean. For the E and earlier version scanners, make sure there is no dirt between the glass covering the LED lights and the plastic next to it.
Make sure to brush the dirt off the knobs as well.
The cap is faulty.
When the Scanner calibration process fails, an error message is always displayed in the application. This error message describes the error and offers a solution/ fix to the error. E.g., Error: H32
Error description: Calibration cap is dirty.
Error fixing: Using the cleaning brush to eliminate soil from the metal EC probes and the glass until almost all particles are removed. Use the wipe cleaning tissue to remove the small particles and make sure no dirt can be observed on EC probes and glass anymore. Rescan (white) background followed by sample and afterwards the (yellow) standard sample.
Note: always follow the instructions given in the error message and if the error pops up numerous times, escalate the issue to 2nd line support.
Old firmware, a firmware update request is sent to second line support.
An old firmware check is requested when the calibration error messages are frequent. This request is sent to 2nd line support when the agent is escalating the calibration cap issue. To escalate the issue, the agent provides the Scanner ID and describes the issues in detail.
If all the above-mentioned options do not solve your calibration cap error, please contact our support by sending an email to support@agrocares.com .
